How much does a rebrand actually cost in 2026? (Real numbers)

· 8 min read · by Zee

Ask five designers what a rebrand costs and you'll get five numbers spanning two orders of magnitude. That's not dishonesty — it's scope ambiguity. 'Rebrand' can mean a new logo file, or it can mean repositioning a company. Let's separate the tiers.

Tier one: logo-only refresh, a wide range depending on scope with an experienced independent designer. You get a new mark and lockups, but strategy, guidelines, and rollout are on you. This is right for early-stage businesses whose positioning is still moving.

Tier two: full identity system, a wide range depending on scope independent or boutique studio. Strategy workshop, logo suite, typography and color systems, and a usable guidelines document. This is where most funded startups and established SMBs should be. It's also where ZeeGFX projects typically sit.

Tier three: agency rebrand, a wide range depending on scope+. You're paying for research depth, multiple teams, and organizational change management. Justified for enterprises with dozens of touchpoints and internal politics; wasteful for anyone smaller.

Where budgets get wasted: paying agency rates for junior execution, skipping strategy and buying three logo lotteries in a row, or under-investing in rollout so a good identity ships inconsistently. The cheapest rebrand is the one you only do once.
